BS”D
Nazism has become mainstream. Well, it has been so for some years. Not that it’s okay to be a Nazi, that is fortunately still very shunned by people, but nevertheless we are living in a world inhabited by Nazis.
When people are discussing today the main thing is not relating to fact or sound arguments, rather the main thing is play on emotions. And the best emotional trigger to be right (and this is the goal apparently, not to get to a better understanding of things, but to be right) is to accuse the opponent for being a Nazi. We see it all the time, whether we are talking about economical discussions, debates between Liberals and Conservative in the States, or – and especially – in discussions dealing with Islam and/or Israel.
I’m sorry to say it, but people comparing anybody and everything to Nazism are ignorants. The other day I this picture, comparing the Democrats with Nazis (the logo is one of the new Democratic logos).
This is one of the most stupid comparisons I can think of, and I don’t only say that because I might have voted for them, had I been an American myself (I’m not sure I would or wouldn’t), but rather because the symbolism being presented in the Nazi logos is an understanding of pure evil, a movement which had it as one of its main principle to exterminate any lesser human ‘races.’ And that is what you compare the Democrats with? Seriously?
Or what about statements like this:
ZIONISM is racist. Being a fundamentalist Zionist political movement, ZIONISM is not categorically different from Nazism. It is even worse than Nazism.
This statement I saw as late as today. Zionism isn’t even as bad as Nazism, it’s “even worse than Nazism!” Seriously? You are comparing an ideology arguing for the extermination of ‘lesser human races,’ with an ideology which believes in the right for a certain people to have their own state, something – it argues – is and/or should be the case for any people. One thing is to be opposed to this, but stating that that is “even worse than Nazism,” is beyond ignorant.
Either people don’t have any idea of what they are talking about, or they simple don’t care, just wanting to be right. No matter which one of them it is, it leaves me somewhat depressed. If this is the standard and level of debates we are indulging ourselves in today, then it doesn’t look good for the future. And you might say that there are similarities, sure there are, there always is, but not in the main teachings. You can also point out that Hitler was the course that a lot of roads where build and improved, but so were the Romans. Does that make the Romans Nazis? You might as well claim that yellow and purple is the same color, since we find red in both of them.
Let me help you to a better understanding of things, so you won’t make a fool out of yourself: Zionism is Zionism. Liberalism is Liberalism. Islamism is Islamism. Socialism is Socialism. And Nazism is Nazism.
What is Islamism? I am Muslim and do not know what this word is.
As-Salâmu ‘aleyckum Safiyyah
Welcome:o)
Islamism is a term which was originally used for Islam in general, but in later decades have changed to be used for Islamic fundamentalism or extremism, especially coined on people who believe that Islam offers a complete political system, instead of ‘only’ being a religion. As such they believe that Islam is an alternative to any given political system there might be, be it Democracy, Dictatorship and so on. Merriam-Webster, for example, defines the term as “a popular reform movement advocating the reordering of government and society in accordance with laws prescribed by Islam,” while Oxford’s online dictionary defines it as “Islamic militancy or fundamentalism.”

“popular reform movement” – that explains it
As to the ‘only’ being a religion – Islaam to the Muslim IS a complete way of life. This includes every aspect, even politics. To believe that there is something “better” out there (i.e., democracy, Zionism) is kufr (disbelief). Muslims are commanded to obey the authority of non Muslim governments UNLESS there are laws against Islaam. For example, if the American government passed a law stating that salah prayer was illegal, no Muslim could obey that.
All the other interpretations are extremeism which the Muslim is warned against. Extremeism and terrorism are sins. Only twisted ideologies can justify them.

An excellent post on the dangers of comparing your chosen enemy to nazism.
